Biography

Lance’s Story

Lance is a proud parent of two amazing kids in Dallas ISD schools. As the son of an elementary school principal with eight other public-school teachers in his family, his commitment to public schools runs deep. He grew up in Arlington through junior high, and ultimately went to high school in a small town in West Texas where public schools are the center of the community. A key constant in his life is his family’s century-old ranch near San Angelo, where he learned to value ingenuity, commitment, and hard work. When he moved back to Dallas after law school to start a family, it was important to him and his wife, Rebecca, to send their kids to public school.

Lance volunteers weekly in Dallas ISD schools, and has for the last eight years, as a tutor for Reading Partners North Texas, working with kindergarteners through second graders to help them catch up on their reading. In 2017, he joined the board of Reading Partners and ultimately served as Chair. He was also Chair of Educate Dallas, a nonprofit working to engage the business community to support Dallas ISD students. At his kids’ school, he served as Chair of the SBDM and Dad’s Club President, and he has served as a Dallas ISD advisory board appointee for current incumbent Trustee Edwin Flores.

Lance participated in the Leadership ISD Dallas Class of 2022. He also graduated from Leadership Dallas in 2018—the best class ever—and he was one of five advisors to the Class of 2019. He previously was a 40 Under 40 Award honoree by the Dallas Business Journal. He graduated from Baylor University before attending law school at the University of Texas at Austin. As a partner in his law firm, he represents owners, developers, and public entities on construction and real estate projects.
